Great overview about otakusim. While for myself, I just like anime and japanese games that all. It is just like human are addicted to fun things. And with the comunity we can chat together about the same fun we like and I think it's not something bad at all.

After all otakuism had helped the grow of economy on the world(of Figures and CDs?).

This was a good panoramic overview on the world of otakuism. I think I belong to the otaku of the Western sense: I do not shun civilization or society, and I most certainly am unable to lock myself in my room. I am the otaku who is simply fond of appreciating Japanese culture in general; I do not belong to the stigmatized Japanese otaku.

It's good to know that the otaku who are avid fans of the anime subculture distance themselves from the other otaku, the one spelled with the 'o' katakana. I'm actually glad there are people like us who stand up to the world with regard to their passions, because in our struggle to become more accepted we also invite and gain more fans. :)
