I thought I had already given up hope after watching Fate/Stay Night and finding myself falling asleep when wind of Fate/Zero reached my ears. Being the very open minded person I am, I decided to run it past myself. Fate/Zero is the prequel to what would be a rather boring Fate/Stay Night, and apparently shows that just before Shirou and company got together, some very epic battles were fought. Yes folks, I iz in AKL infiltratingz ur armegedonz. Armaggeddon Auckland was quite a bit bigger than Armaggeddon Christchurch, but contrary to my expectations, apparent anime fandom is not directly proportional to the size of the event. Here’s my scoop on this event that I was actually heavily anticipating.

In the last post I said I got a figma Golgo. It was nicer than I expected, and comes with the biggest extra I’ve ever seen come with a figma. A di:stage basic set. I really didn’t expect it until I noticed that the box was unusually thick. Then it occured to me that there was stuff behind the red background.

What made me chuckle today was Rin asking me what kind of drugs I was dealing to be able to get all these companions for her. I thought that that was pretty funny because I’m now way behind on making any figma comics lately. But since I’ve had a turn of events in RL, you’ll see more coming in a bit.

I remember getting the Fraulein Revoltech Yuki even when I had the figma one. Thinking that Revoltech, a longtime maker of action figures would make something nice and decent too, I was instantly disappointed. Now comes another action figure brand from Aoshima called Mobip. At first glance, it looks like a very Chinese attempt to imitate figma’s runaway success at producing anime action figures. But being fans of a similar action figure brand, let’s have a closer look anyway.

I didn’t expect my last blog post to be embraced with such a warm response, and I would like to thank Tadano Suki, Nakano Azusa, Katherine Williams, Tuna, Kimura Reiko, Tiara, Suna, Sylvia, Kate, Rita and Sancta for posting all those constructive comments from the same IP address.

I’d like to say that I really enjoyed the event, and the cosplayers were a lot of fun too. I’m not sure why the spammer got so hot and bothered about what I said about the cosplayers because its true, but I’ll let it say what it must to get over it. For those of you who were awesome, kudos. To those of you who failed, just try harder and earn a place of praise in my future posts.

And to the one I bought posters from, you’re awesome ;). See you at Armaggeddon.

After looking at Shance’s failsketch of what he calls “Loli Tohsaka Rin”, and as a fan of Fate/Stay Night’s young genius sorceress and romantic target, I felt obliged to salvage whatever was left of Rin’s cuteness and lovability in a sketch I did after having finally found my pencil box.

After trying hard to work with what I’ve got, I’ve come to the realization that I may need more extra figmas than I thought. I’m sure Kagamin wouldn’t like Konata laughing at her after begging her to dress up like that. I mean, who would?

After opening Saber Lily, I thought I’d just open up the rest of my Fate/Stay Night figmas. Though I’m not an EXTREMELY big fan of Fate/Stay Night, I liked Rin enough to be able to not die of boredom from the despicable lameness and lack of logic in the anime series. Yes, I have played the games too, and the hentai scenes right at the end make playing through the long and occasionally exciting and well drawn visual novel worth the entire thing. If you just download the HCGs, its not as fun as if you actually bought and played through the whole game. Trust me on this.
